Connecting With the Pan Current
 

TOUCHING THE ARCHETYPE

The first active ritual step in working with the Pan Current is contacting the Avatar or mask of the Current,

A long and conscious decision-making process needs to be undertaken before the aspirant (that's you) decides to connect with the Pan (or Nameless) Current of magickal energy. It is, by it's very nature, praeterhuman and wholly primal and atavistic. The shock of the process of invoking this poere and the process of assimilating the unlocked thoughts, memories, feelings and urges that 'polite' society keeps safely tucked away can be quite intense. The reactions can range from complete shock to death, in my opinion. There are a number of apocraphal stories of people invoking Pan with devestating results, anyone who has studdied occult literature or engaged in magickal gossip has heard or read about these tales. the point is that the unlocking of atavistic energies is dangerous. If you do not want to merge with your animal-self, stop here. Can you imagine yourself as a Werewolf? Meditate on this. If you do not want to know all about your sexuality, your demons, your darkside and your Shadow, stop here. To connect with the Pan energy is to enter the realm of shadow and light comingled- the animal does not have morals, laws, restrictions or philosophies save those that are instinctual and directly benefit mental, physical or spiritual survival.
I have found that encountering the Pan current left me stripped naked of everything but the raw howl- book learning, intellect and magickal wisdom are as naught because the archetype and the current embody energy so primal that none of these things have a hook to hang their hat on. Without words, there is no thought, no ego- only the howl,the purr, the growl....

Here then is the first step, at least as I have experienced it. Take a long time to think about this first. Keep a diary and decide what the terms PAN and NAMELESS mean to you.

Think about your origins.
If you are still drawn to this magick, take the first step.

CONTACTING

The rite is very simple.
Purify yourself as you will and go into the wilderness. The ideal time is summer. It must be completely uninhabited by people. There must be no people camping or living nearby. One must end up at a place that is as absolutly wild and untouched as possible. There must be a variety of wildlife and plantlife. There must be the posibility of dangerous animals nearby. (Ex: Bears, snakes, cougars...)

Bring with you normal camping equipment, food that does not require cooking, a journal to write in and any other tools, tokens, images and so on you wish connected with Pan. Bring a ten but do not set it up uinless it storms. If this happens, give it up and try this later.

Set up camp, relax and meditate on the primal wilderness. Spend as much time naked as possible. Once you have camped, try to simply put away your clothes for the whole time you are there. Find something wild you can eat, even if it is only a fern head! Honor the spirit of that place and ask it to embrace you. Do not build a fire.

At sunset, invoke your Guardian Spirit to guide and protect you. Do this from the heart.

After sunset, get into your sleeping bag- you are outside- no tent.

Wait until is is deep into the night, when you can hear the forest awake around you- then: Invoke Pan. Do so silently and without any words- call out to him, call him to come with every fiber of your being. Arouse youself sexually- but do not cum- push the limits of your consciousness- when you are straining and about to explode with the silent invocation of PAN- howl as long and as hard as you can- put every bit of longing, lust, power and strength into that howl- then fall back completely drained and empty.

Wait.

Pan will come...

First there will be a huge rush of pure fear. There are things that can kill and eat you in the forest. They have heard you. They know you are here- the whole forest is focused on you. The darkness draws back and pounces....

Ride the fear, let it flow through you- accept death and all that comes forth- ride it- let it go- don't leave the sleeping bag- Panic fills you...

At the peak of that Panic, masturbate- enflame your lust with any animal-man or animal-woman images you can- call to Pan with your Sex- visualize copling with he/she or him/her with you- then visualize fucking AS Pan...Call Pan silently again and again....at the moment of orgasm, release everything and throw your body, mind and soul open to the forest with a mass exhalation- Do so bellowing the primal

HA sound.

Inhale the forest, the earth, the sky, the life all around into your infinte self, inhaling the primal sound HA.

Cover your mouth- die. Silence. Emptiness.

wait.

You will hear a sound- for me it was the 'tic' of Pan's hoof on a stone by the stream I was near. This will be Pan.

Communicate as you will, open youself to the primal wisdom of the embodied forest.Become.

To end the contact- simply speak. IO PAN is a good way to break the silence. When you do so, you will hear the connection break and the current will retreat back into the eternal archetypal forest that shadows the forest you are in.

In the morning, write what you can remember and what you need to do now. bury some food and drink offerings to the Mother Earth and to Pan.

Greet the rising sun and thank your Guardian Spirit for protecting you.

You are now initiated into the Pan current and Things will change. What that initiation means to you, what transmitting the current means to you, and what you are meant to do with this power- all of thise things will have been hinted at when you made contact with the Archetype. If you did not make contact before- move on. This current is not for you.

And if you were killed and eaten by a bear or cougar- cest la vie! You have taken the very quick way of becoming one with the Pan current!
